My First Time :)

Well, I have to admit something to you... I made my very first loaf of bread today, real bread, not frozen loaves, for the first time ever!  It started out as a poke from my husband who is the bone-fide, official, recognized, respected and unchallenged bread maker of the family.  In the last 11 years, I've had NO desire to put hands to flour and bake up a loaf of - real - bread, till today.  And it's beautiful!  Here's the recipe, just in case you, too, want to take the bread challenge...

It's fun isn't it? You've reminded me of when I started making bread. My mom used to make oatmeal bread alot and when I was just out of college I started making it and was so tickled that I could do it. My (then future) sil had a baby and I - happily and very proud of myself - brought her two loaves, because I knew she had company/family from France visiting. Then the next day I came back and her cousin was sitting at a table when I walked in. He was a chef in France. He said with his heavy French accent, "Did you put sugar in that bread?" I said I had. He said, "Don't put sugar in bread."
